Challenge

Create a poster to motivate Class 2 primary school students and help them practice the growth mindset, during the challenging shift to online learning during the COVID-19 pandemic. 

Solution

Reword the 'growth mindset' in more tangible, fun language relevant for the age group (8-10 years). 

How I Helped

  • Collaborated with the Class 2 Teacher to research and clarify key messages

  • Edited and rewrote common 'growth mindset' principles as engaging personal and classroom mantras/quotes 

  • Helped reframe growth mindset in a form and language that makes it easy to teach to the target age group

  • User-tested poster with the class, to come up with the first version, including a class survey

Impact

  • Parents downloaded the pdf from online platform to put in their children's rooms.

  • Students started to use phrases from the poster to encourage each other during lessons.

  • Principal requested printed posters to put in classrooms when school reopened.

Execution

"BIG BRAIN MINDSET" POSTER

The variation of personal and collective pronouns ( 'I' and 'We') turned each statement into a shared mantra for the class.
